The World's First Ever 24-carat Gold Plated Violins
Created by FUSE, aka electric violinist Linzi Stoppard & Ben Lee, in collaboration with violin-maker Bridge and royal jewellery designer Theo Fennell, the 24-carat gold-plated violins are encrusted with diamonds and rubies - and insured for millions of pounds.
Made from carbon and kevlar, the violins had to be extremely light to offset the weight of the gold plating. They also feature diamond and ruby-encrusted skulls as a nod to the group's rock roots.
Linzi said: "Ben and I fly all over the world to play live rock violin and in every destination we put on a spectacular show. The thrill of playing with these new gold violins is something I can't describe."
The duo has a history of expensive tastes in musical instruments. FUSE previously worked with Swarovski Crystal to create the world’s first crystal violins, worth $1.5m each.
